A great turnout for the first Bognor Regis U3A walking group –
11 members showed up for the Arundel park walk led by Suzie Wheller.  About 5.75 miles were covered in perfect weather, with glorious views of the Arun valley.  It was agreed that a very high standard had been set by this walk and all members are keen for the next one!

Introducing U3A

U3A is a learning cooperative, an international association of men and women, no longer in full-time employment, who willingly share their time, knowledge and experience with each other.

Learning and social activities take place in groups, organised by volunteer group leaders.  We meet mostly in members’ own homes in a friendly atmosphere, with no restrictions on how many group activities you can join.

Why U3A?
U3A is short for University of the Third Age. It is a university in the original sense of the word: a collective of people devoted to learning, all of whom are in their Third Age. The Third Age refers to the period of time after the First Age of childhood dependence and the Second Age of full time employment and parental responsibility. The U3A started some 26 years ago and has now expanded to well over 250,000 members within some 820 local groups.  Each local U3A, such as the Bognor Regis U3A, is autonomous but affiliated to the national Third Age Trust. If you would like to know more about how the U3A started and the principles upon which it is based, visit the National website www.u3a.org.uk.
